About Forge Mountain Design

After too many years spent grinding away in excel sheets and contracts, I came to realize that happiness may lay elsewhere.

After slowly transitioning from corporate life to design, I found myself in the custom home building industry. After seven years in the home building and design business, all of a sudden we were given the opportunity to move to Asheville as a result of the Covid pandemic.

This move ultimately paved the way to start a small landscaping business with the addition of smaller house projects. Taking on small projects here and there - painting, small repairs, trim, and of course, a lot of landscaping design and maintenance - we initially took on projects for friends and neighbors.

Eventually due to word of mouth this led to a steady stream of customers. At first, we focused on exterior landscape services, but as I grew more comfortable with the jobs we were being given, I wanted to take another look at offering more interior design services.

Moving to Asheville led us to buying our second "fixer upper" - after repeatedly vowing we would never do this again. And after repeated disappointing results working with a number of contracts, my husband and I came to the realization we could get better results learning how to renovate this home ourselves, rather than rely on contractors that consistently disappointed.

After many trials and errors -and a few minor injuries and visits to Urgent Care - and learning by doing, our renovations slowly started producing quality, results that we could get genuinely excited about.

This realization is what helped us in establishing the small business we are working on today.

I hold a BA in Sociology with a Minor in Horticulture from Clemson and currently live in Asheville with my husband, three dogs, two cats, eight rabbits, and an excessive amount of chickens.
